How you invite and introduce new members to your mastermind group will shape how they show up and revere the group. You want them to feel super special like they are being invited to your wedding as one of 20 guests. Whether you do the invitation in-person, on the phone, by mail, or via email, you want to make sure that you:

  1. Tell them why you personally chose them (e.g. why they inspire you, what you see in them, etc)
  2. What the group is (purpose, vision, and mission, and how you think it can help them with their goals)
  3. Who else is in the group (that you would like them to meet)
  4. What the commitment is so that expectations are clear (how many meetings, how often, in between time)
  5. And an invitation to talk more (after they have had time to consider the opportunity)

The best sequence for inviting someone to your group is:

  1. An invitation meeting, call, mailing, or email
  2. A follow-up email if you don’t hear back
  3. IF THEY SAY YES: A email to schedule a quick call to address any questions and orient them
  4. IF THEY SAY NO: A thank you email for their time and consideration and that you’re still committed to their success
  5. A welcome email with the membership form, privacy policy, official dates, and login information

Here is the a sample email:

Hi POTENTIAL MEMBER,

How are you? I hope well.

I’m emailing you is because I consider you to be part of my inner circle, a friend, family.

And this year, I want to see you to succeed. Period.

The occasional brunches, potlucks, calls, and texts are cool, but I want to help more. I know you’re already doing fine on your own and I know what you’re up to in general, but I want to help in more specific ways throughout the year and through my gift of creating community and accountability.

That’s why I’m inviting you to be a part of mastermind group. So many amazing people I know are ambitious but alone. They are so ahead of the pack that they don’t have a pack. Well now they do.

The purpose of this mastermind group to create more ease and happy hours in the lives of hard workers as they pursue their Life’s Work and for us to all to become more successful without stress, struggle, sacrifice, suffering, or solitude. I know you’re busy, but trust me. This is not more work. It will actually lead to less work and greater results because of the connections and collective wisdom in the group.

The group meets monthly and will consist of the most amazing diverse people I know from different industries, experiences, classes, and ethnicities. There are executives, entrepreneurs, and employees on their way up or out.

This is one big experiment to see if a team does better than individuals and it is part of my new vision to create communities of successful people, not just individual successes. I believe life is a team sport and my B.H.A.G. (Big Hairy Audacious Goal) is to bring mastermind groups to the masses, and essentially create Weight Watchers for people’s everyday goals – beyond just weight loss – using the goal setting methodologies I have used, tested, and written about in Guaranteed Goals.

The year long commitment requires:

  • You being you

  • attendance at 12 monthly 60-90 minute online webinars to celebrate, get coached, and set a new goal. There are also optional mid-month check-ins too.

  • Investment in other members’ success through connections, collaboration, or coaching

There is a fee. It’s $799 for the year. This is to ensure that that members are serious, cover the cost of meeting venues, food, and most importantly cover the time I’m going to dedicate before, during, and after meetings to your success.

You can see more details like the dates and ethos at: http://www.julliengordon.com/the-focused-group.

I need to know if you’re in by Monday.

Take the weekend to think about it and let me know if you have any questions.

I really hope to have you and help you more in 2016.

Much love,

Jullien
